Relaxed international wedding at Cherwell Boathouse
Niki and Joe got in touch with me about their wedding photography all the way from San Francisco having seen my pictures from another friend’s wedding the previous year and I knew it would be a beautiful occasion. It was clear early on that they weren’t too fussed about the frills and spills of the day but it was important to them that they had the occasion documented. Their families and friends are spread out across the globe so it was extra special to take pictures for them all together.
The perfect wedding venue
They chose the beautifully serene Cherwell Boathouse as their wedding venue and I had to promise them we wouldn’t take cheesy shots on the punts (disclaimer – we did take some shots on the punts. When in Oxford…) The ceremony itself took place in the Boathouse marquee with everyone gathered around, champagne in hand. We then enjoyed a very English wedding breakfast interspersed by hilarious speeches. Niki’s mum had written a poem about the unusual way in which Niki and Joe met. See below for pictures of the reenactment. It involves a stolen bike and a police station. The whole day felt so joyful and relaxed and was a perfect representation of them as a couple. Thanks Niki and Joe for having me as your wedding photographer!
